UL Listed FM Approved 500usgpm @300 feet End Suction Centrifugal Pumps for Fire Fighting Use
End suction centrifugal pumps get their name from the pathway the water takes to enter the pump. Typically the water enters one side of the impeller, and on horizontal end suction pumps, this appears to enter “the end” of the pump. Unlike the HSC the suction pipe and motor or engine are all parallel, eliminating the concern about pump rotation or orientation in the mechanical room. Since water is entering one side of the impeller, you lose the ability to have bearings on both sides of the impeller. Bearing support will be either from the motor itself, or from the pump power frame. This prevents the use of this type of pump on large water flow applications.
The appeal of an end suction pump is usually its lower initial cost. If the pump can perform at a given rating and pressure, then this type of pump is adequate. If diesel-engine driven, another advantage is the ability to have an engine parallel and close to a wall (assuming proper air venting is considered). This can save space in a mechanical room piping layout.
The removal of the impeller requires pulling the impeller back out of the casing, which requires removal of the motor to provide space for this to happen. Often this is a more difficult procedure for those maintaining the pump.

How it Works:
The end suction centrifugal pump normally contains a single impeller and a spiral like casing. The fluid that is being pumped moves along the impeller’s vanes, which increases the fluid’s velocity. From there the fluid is moved into the spiral like casing, where the high velocity is transformed into high pressure by a diffusion process.
These types of pumps are usually powered by an A.C. electric motor, although some are D.C. motor driven, as well as air driven motors, hydraulic motors, gasoline and diesel engine driven and steam turbine driven. These pumps may be close-coupled, with the impeller directly attached to the driver shaft without a separate coupling between them. Alternatively, they may be mounted on a frame, where the pump has its own bearings and a coupling that separates the motor and the pump.

End Suction Fire Pump
First-Class testing and inspection equipment.
CNP NMFIRE End suction fire pump is the perfect solution for small capacity fire applications. Back pull-out design end suction fire pump, allows the complete rotating element to be removed for servicing without disconnecting pipe work. If a spacer coupling is fitted then driver does not have to be moved too. Simplicity of design ensures long efficient unit life, reduced maintenance costs and minimum power consumption.
End suction pumps are specifically designed and tested for fire service application around the world including:
Office Buildings, hospitals, airports, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, power stations, schools/colleges, hotels, etc.
