For vertical turbine pumps using right-angle gear drivers driven by a diesel engine, a listed torsional coupliing (Blue part in the video) shall be used and mounted on the engine side of driveshaft. Drive system includes a diesel engine, torsional coupling, right-angle gear box, and vertical shaft pump. And the pump manufacturer shall provide , at a minimum, a 3-mass torsional frequency calculation, indicating that the first two natural frequencies of the system and the critical speeds associated with engine firing frequency are found to be no less than 25% above or below when the pump is operating at rated speed.
